WORLD-CLASS DESIGN, HIGHTECH CONSTRUCTION, YOUR CUSTOMISATION
SHARPEYE allows you to customise your board with detail from blank to spray. Build the board of your dreams on our Custom Board Builder (CBB) and receive it at home or pick it up at one of our partner stores. It's simple: select an option from every category in the side menu. Our CBB will display how the board will look in real-time, step by step. Start by choosing the model you want to buy. We will build your order based on the outline of that model. Then, you select the technology/construction you want. Options are:
BOARD DETAILS
PU (Polyurethane):
PU is the most common surfboard construction. A shaped Polyurethane (PU) blank with a plywood stringer, glassed using a polyester resin. Most of our boards are built using this foam. It is excellent for everyday use and performs in all types of conditions, wave sizes and levels of surfer.
EPS (Expanded Polystyrene):
A shaped EPS blank with a plywood stringer traditionally glassed using epoxy resin. It is typically the lightest foam in surfboard manufacturing, resulting in increased paddle power and buoyancy in small waves. EPS foam core is also known for its outstanding durability. Overall it makes a more robust, longer-lasting, better flexing board. We recommend EPS technology for our small wave models.
Next, let us know the size, width and thickness you would like.
Please look at our Recommended Stock Measurements before making a final decision. Use them as a guide, so you don't over-customise your board and keep the original concept integrity. We recommend selecting the length you want, which will auto-select the width and thickness per our stock recommendation. From here, move down to the next option and adjust the width and thickness according to what fits you best.
Time to select your tail shape. Each model is designed with a specific tail shape in mind. Changing this will change the way the surfboard performs. However, if you want to experiment, choose a different tail option. Select the fin system and fin setup you want in your board (thruster, quad, five fins). Let us know how light/heavy you want the glassing on your board to be by selecting an option from the Glassing category:
Team (4x4)
Making the board light and fast. Our lightest glassing option has one layer of 4oz glass on the deck and one layer of 4oz glass on the bottom. This option allows for more performance. However, the board's durability is not very strong and can be damaged quickly.
Light (4x4x3/4)
Making the board light and fast. This option has one layer of 4oz glass and a 3/4 4oz glass patch on the deck, and one layer of 4oz glass on the bottom. This option allows for more performance. However, the board's durability is not very strong and can be damaged quickly.
Standard (4x4x4)
Standard is the most common option we recommend when ordering your board. It is not too heavy, and it is not too light and is durable! Stock glassing has two layers of 4oz glass on the deck and one layer of 4oz glass on the bottom.
Strong (4x6x4)
Two layers on the deck of 6oz glass and one layer of 4oz glass, and then on the bottom is one layer of 4oz glass. This glass job makes the board more robust but also adds weight to the board. We recommend this option if you are surfing waves of consequence, are heavy-footed, tend to dint your boards easily, or want extended longevity.
Move on to choosing your board's glassing technology.
Options are:
Traditional glassing:
Your board is glassed traditionally using polyester or epoxy resin (depending on if it's a PU or EPS blank).
Vacuum Glassing (Dark Arts construction only):
The board is sealed inside a nylon bag filled with absorbent materials, and the resin and fibre layers are laminated under pressure caused by the vacuum. This constant pressure results in extra compact fibre and a lighter board (up to 400 grams less than a traditional glass job).
Select the reinforcement patches you want on your board:
Ghost Innegra tail patch
Two strips of innegra on either side of the tail adding strength in the area most affected by foot pressure and impact and preventing the rail/tail from crushing or denting severely (commonly known as "tail cancer").
Time to choose the look of your board.
Lastly, let us know the name you want on the stringer.
Finish your order, and we will take it from there!
